Women's tackle football is 'new' in that it is finally becoming a nationally recognized, competitive sport. For years, many women have played alongside men on the gridiron, without the chances to play in college or professionally.
The IWFL and WFA have been around ~15 years working to change all that. Our players are not paid to play. They are considered by some to be professional, some semi-pro - but really they are women who have day jobs, families, children, who work just as hard to play the game as male counterparts.
This was the Avengers first year, following the NM Menace, which ended their run in 2010. It's an exciting time for our ladies, and we hope that you'll join us at events this summer as we come out to support local sports and ABQ events and raise awareness for our second season! (Our season starts up in April -- See you Soon!!)
